Caterpillar Corner - MND Awareness Day
Friday 21st June, NCELC held their annual MND Awareness Day and Big Freeze Challenge. It was a great day! It started off with children and educators arriving to the centre wearing a touch of blue. We then moved on to our annual Ice Bucket Challenge, Big Freeze! Children and Educators sat patiently in the Investigators yard in excitement ready to watch the cold plunge.
Our first lot of freezers were Kylie Botterill, Tanya Holland, Bow Humphreys and Sarah Best! Each took to the chair in excitement (and nervousness) ready for the cold water to be poured on them by their peers. Our second lot of freezers who were a bit more prepared but still nervous were Sarah Delwig, Alkira Britton, Nicola Oliver and Tyler Atkins.
The children watching found it entertaining seeing their educators get frozen by the water! Through this experience, we explained to the children about why we held this day and why we volunteered for the cold plunge of the ice bucket challenge.
NCELC would like to thank our families and the community for their support and encouragement for our educators to participate in the ice bucket challenge today. Without your encouragement and kind words, it would have been much harder.
We are happy to announce that as a service, we have provided a donation to fightmnd.org.au as part of our day.
Well done to all who organised the day, especially our freezers.
