Graeme Bernhardt Memorial Kids Fishing Day!
Sunday 12th November marked the end of the drought for the Graeme Bernhardt Memorial Kids fishing Comp. With a 4 year absence due to covid, floods and Blackwater events the competition took place on the Broken Creek between Town Weir and Chinamens Weir.
With 172 kids registering they kept the N.A.C members on their toes as well as mum's and dad's with endless tangles and wavering rods.
Kids of all ages kept Xavier and Marty busy in "Carp Corner" on the measuring table. A total of 190 carp were caught. 2 silver Brim. No yellow belly or Cod were caught. Their numbers still suffering from the black water events.
The day was all about the kids and to see their smiles and excitement throughout the day makes this event a highlight every year.
And it would not be a successful day without our major contributors such as:
- VR Fish (grant)
- Rob and Brad Harris Cobram Outdoors (kayak)
- Reggie and Shirley Hudson (camping tent )
- Michel Family (camp shower and tent)
- Berkley Fishing
- Bells Freight
Finally a big thankyou to all our members who gave their time to sell tickets and tireless efforts in making this day such a success.
Austin Morgan was the winner of the kayak in the Nathalia Angling Club Raffle. Austin has been a keen fisherman and participant of the kids' fishing day since his primary school days. Austin was extremely pleased with his prize.
Jordy Rudd (Graeme Bernhardt's granddaughter) with her Uncle Col Bernhardt and the carp she caught at the Kids' Fishing Day. There were lots if carp caught by lots of kids. It was a great day for all involved.
